Terms of Service
EFFECTIVE — JUNE 10, 2026
These terms govern your use of OffsiteDB (“the Service”), operated by OffsiteDB (“we”, “us”). By creating an account you agree to them. They are written to be read.
1. The service
OffsiteDB makes scheduled, encrypted backups of PostgreSQL databases you connect, stores them in storage you designate (or our managed vault), verifies them with restore drills, and alerts you on failure. We may improve or change features over time; we will not remove core functionality you pay for without notice.
2. Your account and your responsibilities
- You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. Activity under your account is your responsibility.
- You may only connect databases you are authorized to access. Connecting infrastructure you do not control is prohibited and will result in termination.
- You are responsible for the legality of the data you back up, including any personal data it contains and the permissions required to copy it.
- No abuse: no attempts to access other customers' data, disrupt the Service, or use it to attack third-party systems.
3. Your data stays yours
You own your databases, your backups, and everything in them. We claim no rights over your data beyond what is needed to operate the Service (copying, encrypting, storing, and restoring it at your direction). Backup artifacts are standard pg_dump archives — you can take them and leave at any time.
4. Billing
- Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe. Trials require no card and convert only if you choose a plan.
- You can cancel any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, and your plan reverts to trial limits afterward.
- If a charge fails repeatedly we may downgrade or suspend the account after notice.
5. Service levels, honestly stated
We run the Service with care and monitor it, but we do not currently offer a contractual SLA. Backups are verified by restore drills, and failures generate alerts — but no backup service removes your obligation to verify your own disaster-recovery posture. The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost data — that is precisely the risk the Service exists to reduce, and why backups land in storage you control.
7. Termination
You can delete your databases and stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination we delete stored credentials and managed-vault artifacts; anything in your own bucket remains yours, untouched.
8. Changes
If we make material changes to these terms we will email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Texas.
